Eso parece al comenzar, pero cada vez más Au Pairs deciden extender su estadía!

Tus tareas serán cuidar a los hijos de la familia anfitriona y hacer otras tareas relacionadas: supervisarlos mientras juegan y jugar con ellos, prepararles las comidas y darles de comer, acomodar sus cuartos, llevarlos y traerlos a / desde la escuela y sus actividades.

Ser Au Pair en los EEUU es ser parte de una familia Americana, ver a este país desde una perspectiva única, mejorar tu Inglés, hacer amigos.

ADEMAS… Ayudarás a los chicos y a la familia a ampliar sus horizontes enseñándoles sobre tu cultura y tu país. Este es un Programa de INTERCAMBIO CULTURAL.

> Preparándome para viajar…

• Recibirás información y harás tus preguntas.
• Si reúnes los requisitos y te decides a ser AU PAIR:
  

• Tendrás entrevistas individuales
• Pagarás los gastos administrativos = u$d 100
• Completarás las planillas de postulación
• Pagarás el Program Fee = u$d 600
• Serás contactada por familias americanas interesadas en vos.
• Harás el matching (acuerdo) con la familia que más te guste.
• Recibirás los documentos para tramitar tu visa J-1 / Au Pair.
• Tramitarás la visa con tu pasaporte vigente. Pagarás al consulado el arancel consular.
• Recibirás el pasaje de ida a EEUU y la orientación previa a la salida.
• Viajarás a New York para tu orientación junto a Au Pairs de muchos países.
• Irás a la casa de tu familia anfitriona y pasarás 12 meses cuidando a los niños, estudiando y paseando.
• Al llegar a tu nueva casa serás contactada por tu coordinadora quien te ayudará y te pondrá en contacto con otros Au Pairs que están en tu zona.
• Ya pasaron los 12 meses! Recibirás el pasaje de regreso a casa.
  
  

> Mis beneficios serán…

• Doce meses de estadía en los EEUU bajo Visa J-1 cultural exchange, en habitación privada y comidas que provee la familia anfitriona. Posibilidades de extensión por 6,9 ó 12 meses más de común acuerdo entre la familia anfitriona y la Au Pair.
• Recibirás por tu trabajo un pago/semana de u$d 195.75/ semana, que representan u$d 10.000/año en tu bolsillo.
• Bono de US$ 500 para estudios.
• Vacaciones pagas (10 días).
• Pasajes hasta y desde la casa de la familia. ( Partiendo desde el aeropuerto de Ezeiza)
• Tres días de orientación y entrenamiento en New York previos a la llegada a la casa de la familia.
• Seguro médico y por accidentes.
• Habitación privada y comidas que provee la familia durante los 12 meses y durante la extensión.
• Supervisión y contacto con los Coordinadores de la organización AuPair, durante todo el año.
• Actividades culturales y sociales para compartir con otras AuPairs.
• Flexibilidad en la época de llegada a los EEUU. Se ofrecen hasta 2 salidas/mes durante todo el año.
• Mínimo un día libre completo por semana, más tiempo suficiente durante todos los días para clases, estudio y descanso.
• Posibilidad de extender a 6, 9 ó 12 meses más de común acuerdo con la Familia anfitriona.
Cada participante elige su fecha de salida.

Algunos ejemplos son:

JESICA/ Tiburón -CA / Traductora de Inglés :Estoy tomando clases de Francés, es un curso que dura 2 meses y me salio: 74$ los 2 meses en el College of Marin. El libro me salió como 11$ xq es de lectura. Además estoy tomando unas clases de writing que son gratis en Redwood High School, y no hay materiales, el profesor nos da las fotocopias y después hacemos essays de una semana para la otra. Y el semestre que viene voy a tomar unas clases de derecho en el College of Marin, que salen cada unidad $171 y creo que la matrícula son $50 (esto es porque no somos residentes). Pero después el semestre que viene te cuento bien.Las clases que estoy tomando son de 6 a 9pm, o sea que no hay problemas con los horarios. Tardo 10 min en auto. Elegí las clases de writing 1ro xq necesitaba practicar y 2do porque eran gratis. Las de Francés porque en Arg estudiaba Francés, y las que voy a tomar de derecho porque me recibí de Traductora Pública y van a ser buenas para mi CV. Las de Francés las pagué con mis ahorros porque estoy guardando la plata que me da la flia para el semestre que viene. Cuando empiece con las otras clases les voy a pedir los $500 porque me va a costar eso y un poco mas las clases en el College. Con nuestro sueldo se vive más que bien acá, y eso que yo vivo en Tiburon que es uno de los lugares + caros de Marin County. Hasta podes ahorrar si no te compras tanta ropa como yo!!! jajaja! pero bueno!

JIMENA – Santa Rosa - CA / Secundario Completo: Yo me anoté en 2 clase en un Junior college, una fue acting technics de 3 units,Y la otra producción de 3 units también .Yo vivo en Santa Rosa así que me anoté en el Santa Rosa Junior Collage En total me salio $1, 260 de los cual la flia paga $500.No tuve gastos de materiales. Una clase era los dos días que los chicos iban a pre school, y la otra era a la noche. Al vivir en Santa rosa y que este el JC acá eso no fue problema para mí, porque vivo a 10 min de ahi y tengo auto a mi disposición. Yo no tomé en cuenta lo de barato o no, porque en mi caso por ser extranjera eso no contaba, o sea eligiera lo que eligiera por tomar 6 units en el college me cobraban eso, no hacia diferencia. La flia pago $500 y yo tuve que pagar $760 Por mi parte yo la pase re bien, conocí a un montón de gente que más ahora que ya termine con el colegio me sigo viendo y hablando. Es la mejor manera de conocer gente. Y si les da media fiaca lo de pagar tanto, (lo que me paso a mi) posta que re vale la pena, ya sé que deben querer ahorrar y demás y es mucha plata pero posta, les digo es muy bueno, yo me mate de risa y conocí a un montón de gente re copada que sé que a pesar que vuelva Argentina me van a quedar para siempre!!es más la primera mitad de año que no fui al college era medio como que no tenía muchos amigos y no salía tanto, ahora todos los findes tengo algo y durante la semana nos encontramos y vamos a tomar un café o algo!!!es muy buenooo, y que no les de fiaca!!!!es una experiencia de 1 vez en la vida y la plata viene y va!!!jajajajjajaj

Family K - New York
Dear Au Pair, Hello! We are the K .family. I am C. and my husband is E. We have twin boys, J and N who are 3 1/2 years old. We live in B, NY. I am an assistant principal at an elementary school about 40 minutes from our house. My husband is a police lieutenant in New York City. He works in Queens about 10 minutes from home. We currently have an au pair who is leaving in March. She cares for the boys while we are at work. She brings them to nursery school every morning for 2 1/2 hours and to swimming lessons once a week. A typical day begins at 6:30am when I leave for work. The boys wake up, have breakfast, and get ready for school. At 9:00 they go to school and are picked up at 11:30. Then they have lunch and usually take a nap until about 3:00. E. usually gets home from work sometime soon after that and I get home around 5:00. We usually need the au pair for about 40-45 hours per week.
On the weekends we love to do things as a family and the au pair often joins us. We go to the park, visit friends, go to museums, zoos, and many other things. There is a lot to do in New York City! My family lives in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, states that are about 3-4 hours from here, so we visit them about 3 times per year. You would always be welcome to join us. As I said before, there is a lot to do here. We live very close to many stores and restaurants. You could walk to them and also to a gym, movie theater, and library. There are malls and beaches not far away. Many colleges and universities are also very close by.
It is essential that our au pair be a confident and experienced driver. The boys must be driven to school every day and to swimming lessons. The park is within walking distance as are many other activities. We are looking for someone who loves children and wants to have fun spending time with ours! Dear Au Pair, Hello! We are the S Family. My name is K and my husband is M. M. and I have three beautiful and fun daughters. E is 4, K is two and N is six months. Our home is in beautiful Texas. M works for Microsoft Corporation and I have my own marketing consulting agency. Our oldest daughter, E is in a private pre-school near our home. Our toddler, K and baby, N are both sweet and fun and have a very regular schedule of meals and naptimes. Our family is very close and our kids get along great. The three girls get along amazingly and the two older girls "love" their baby sister. E and K love books, music, dancing and exploring their environment. E has a particular interest in bugs right now!.
Our ideal au pair must have experience with and a sincere interest in children. Our au pair should be responsible, active, kind and willing to assimilate into our family and community. We will need our au pair to work 45 hours a week with a regular Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00am - 5:00pm. The typical schedule would involve getting the girls ready for school, making them breakfast, and driving them to school.
There are many activities for an au pair in our area. There are lots of shopping areas, parks, restaurants, sports facilities and tons of other entertainment. Family C – San Francisco
Hello Au Pair! We are the C family – B and J (parents), and our daughter . We are expecting our second child this December and don’t know if it’s a boy or girl. We also have a big friendly dog, who is very old and likes to take long naps. We live in California in a beautiful suburb just North of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge. Great hiking, beaches, restaurants and shopping are all very close to our home. The heart of San Francisco is just 20 minutes south and wine country (Sonoma & Napa Valley) are an hour north. We love living here because there are so many fun things to do – we can’t wait for you to experience them for yourself.
A is 2 ½ years old and currently goes to a Spanish school in San Francisco three days per week. She also spends lots of time with B playing outside, going to the park, childrens’ museum or the library. A is very social and loves to play with other kids; she also likes to color and do arts and crafts at home. Starting in September, Axxx will go to a nursery school in our town three mornings per week. We prefer that out Au Pair be bilingual and speak Spanish with A – she has learned so many words already and we would like A to continue developing her Spanish. (Our Spanish is very limited though, so our Au Pair will need to speak English with us!)
Our ideal Au Pair will be fun and playful, as well as have a keen sense of responsibility. Our schedules are always changing so we need our Au Pair to be flexible. A typical day may include helping A get ready in the morning and driving her to/from school. In the afternoons or when A is not in school, you will be taking her on fun adventures and play dates in the park, or maybe even a quiet afternoon at home. We hope you will be creative and think of fun activities both indoors and outside. When our second baby arrives, we will probably have someone else to help us take care of our newborn for a few weeks. After that you will help us to take care of both children while still treating Axxx to special days! We hope our Au Pair will have experience with infants and help us to soothe a crying baby as well as enjoy playing with A.
There will be plenty of down time for you and we hope you will learn to enjoy California as much as we have (we are transplants from New York and Chicago). There are also plenty of colleges nearby so you can take interesting classes. We will provide you with access to a car.
We are an active family and love to do fun outdoor activities such as hiking and going to the beach. Jxxx also enjoys biking and skiing while I like to run and do yoga. We also like to travel – we visit J parents in New York and my parents in Chicago and also go to Lake Tahoe during the winter. We hope you will travel with us sometimes.
